A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash with a car in the Cotswold Water Park.
Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4696 at around 4.30pm this afternoon (Sunday).
Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the 999 crews that attended the incident, which happened on the junction with Cox’s Hill.
The tragic smash involved a silver Volkswagen Tiguan and a motorcycle, with the male biker sustaining significant injuries on impact with the car.
Despite the best efforts of medics, the man – aged in his 50s and from Swindon – was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time”, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.
Adding: “They are being supported by specialist officers.”
A full-scale forensic collision investigation began at around 7.30pm will continue overnight.
The road is closed in both directions between Spine Road and Gosditch. Cox’s Hill is also shut.
The closures are expected to remain in place until early tomorrow morning (Monday, 29 July).
