A biker has been airlifted to hospital after a crash on the A361 in Wiltshire.
Emergency services were called to the stretch of road between Southwick and Rode at around 7.45am this morning (Tuesday).
The incident involved a silver Suzuki motorcycle and a small white van.
The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity helicopter landed nearby as a team of critical care medics provided urgent care to the biker, who sustained potentially life-changing injuries.
The casualty – aged in his 30s- has since been airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
Roads policing officers and the Serious Collision Investigation Team are on scene, as they await an update on the biker’s condition.
The road is expected to remain closed until around midday – but much longer if a forensic collision investigation is deemed necessary.
Witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, should contact PC Slade at Wiltshire Police by calling 101 and quoting log 45 of today (30 July).
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Drivers please be aware that the A361 at Rode Common Farm southwest of Southwick is currently closed in both directions following a serious RTC.
“The road is likely to be closed for a number of hours. Please find alternate routes.”
UPDATE: The road reopened in both directions at around 11.45am.
