Swindon-born entrepreneur Matt Fiddes will stand to be an MP at the next General Election, he announced at a party conference in Devon at the weekend.
The multimillionaire, who previously worked as Michael Jackson’s bodyguard before building a huge martial arts business, spoke of his ambitions on Saturday (9 November).
Taking the stage at the Reform UK South West Conference in Exeter, he told a crowd of hundreds of people: “We will make this country incredible. And all of you: Dream it, believe it, achieve it. Let’s go.”
In a post on social media, he announced his plans to those who didn’t attend the event. He wrote: “I will be working with Nigel Farage behind the scenes (and a few other big players) to build a strong Reform and I will be running for MP in North Devon.
He said that it was “to help give back to the community that gave me a head start in 1997 with my first business that became international”.
In September 2023, Matt branded the XL Bully a ‘serious risk’ and said it ‘should not be a family pet’.
Several months earlier, he went viral online after he claimed that he was ignored at a Ferrari showroom while wearing a tracksuit – despite being worth £120 million.
Matt called for parents to learn CPR after his boy, Hero, suffered a cardiac arrest and waited 21 minutes for an emergency ambulance to arrive on scene.
It happened when he was living near Royal Wootton Bassett – and has since provided free-of-charge CPR lessons in Swindon through a programme called MF Hero First Aid.
