A Swindon flat has been ‘closed’ after a pregnant woman had a drug relapse.
Police attended a property in Homington Avenue, Badbury Park, in recent days – where they discovered a number of people in a room filled with crack cocaine smoke.
The occupant of the address – a heavily pregnant woman – was present with three Class A drug users, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday (16 November).
PC Caldwell told the bench that one of the people located inside the flat were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance.
He said the woman had recently relapsed after a year clean, and applied for a partial closure order in a bid to provide “respite” away from other addicts.
Magistrates granted a three-month closure order, which means only the occupant of the property, emergency services and other professionals are legally allowed to enter it.
Anybody found in the flat without a court’s permission can be arrested and prosecuted.
