UPDATE: Murder investigation launched after man dies in Salisbury stabbing
A suspect has been arrested following the stabbing of a man in Salisbury today (Tuesday).
Emergency services, including Wiltshire Air Ambulance, rushed to the serious assault in Gainsborough Close, in Bemerton, at 11.55am.
A man, aged in his 20s, sustained knife wounds in the attack – with medics battling to save this life at the scene. His condition is unknown at this time.
A police helicopter, tasked from its base in Wales, attended the incident in search of the knifeman. He was later arrested.
In a statement, Superintendent Liz Coles, confirmed that the victim is in a life-threatening condition and is being worked on by medical professionals.
She said: “We have set up a scene in Gainsborough Close, Salisbury, following a serious assault.
“At around 11.55am, the victim, a man in his 20s, was stabbed, suffering life-threatening injuries.
“He is currently undergoing emergency treatment at the location.
“A scene has been set up in the close and the surrounding area while we investigate the circumstances.
“Residents are likely to see an increased policing presence in the area.
“We will issue an update when appropriate.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dash cam footage from this location, please call us on 101 and quote crime reference number 115 of today.”
