A girl wearing school uniform has been approached by a man who asked her to ‘come with him so he could take photos of her’ in Swindon town centre.
Police officers responded to reports of the suspicious incident, involving a 14-year-old school-goer while she was sat on a bench in Theatre Square at around 6pm last night.
On arrival, a search of the area was conducted, but no one matching the description was located.
The girl, who’s now 15-years-old, had removed herself from the situation immediately and entered the Wyvern Theatre at the request of her mum – who was on the phone to her.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that they attended the incident.
“Wiltshire Police received a call from a member of the public regarding a suspicious incident involving a 15-year-old girl being approached by a man in Theatre Square who tried to engage her in conversation; this happened at around 6pm on 8 March 2018.
“The girl walked away and in to the Wyvern Theatre and the man left the area. Although shaken she had not been injured in anyway.
“However, if anyone is ever concerned about incidents of this nature then they are always urged to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.”
