The RSPCA has launched an investigation after a Wiltshire woman allegedly filmed herself hitting and flicking a cat.
Inspectors from the animal charity are understood to have visited the suspect’s home in Bradford on Avon on Tuesday (11 November).
Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers were in attendance alongside the RSPCA team, but were only present to provide assistance if required.
In a post on social media, a local resident took to social media to raise his concerns.
He wrote: ‘Two cats have already died in her care after she refused veterinary treatment.
‘She’s now filming herself abusing and roughly handling the remaining cat these animals need intervention before more are harmed.’
An RSPCA spokesperson said that an investigation is ongoing. However, they could not comment further due to sharing any prejudicial information that may harm the case.
“An investigation is now ongoing so we can’t go into any further detail at this time”, they said.
Adding that the charity is “grateful to people who report their concerns to us”.
They continued: “We understand how frustrating that is for animal lovers but releasing information could prejudice a future investigation or could lead to us being fined.”
It’s not know whether the recent visit to the woman’s home resulted in her animals being seized.
If the RSPCA prosecutes the suspect, the case could come to court. Wiltshire 999s will continue to monitor this case and provide updates when it is appropriate to do so.
