A puppy has been rescued after being spooked and running away in Devizes.
RSPCA Wiltshire Mid Branch said they were alerted after the chihuahua, named Poppy, disappeared on Roundway Hill.
As temperatures dropped and the light faded, the race was on to locate the dog safely.
Due to Poppy’s small size and the chilly conditions, it was decided that a joint response was needed to find her as swiftly as possible.
RSPCA volunteer Jess worked alongside Amanda and Andrew from Drone SAR for Lost Dogs and Search and Scan to carry out a coordinated search of the area.
Using a drone, Poppy was soon spotted in a nearby field. Rescuers were then able to guide Annie, her owner, to the location.
She sat calmly with her other dog while waiting – allowing Poppy to feel safe enough to make her way back down the hill.
The puppy was reunited with her owner without injury, bringing the search to a positive conclusion.
