A man from Trowbridge who stalked and suffocated a woman has been sent to prison.
27-year-old Kyle Chisholm was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday (9 April).
The defendant, of of Foxglove Drive in Hilperton, Trowbridge, stalked a woman known to him and on at least two occasions caused her to fear that violence would be used against her.
Between December 2023 and November 2025 numerous messages were sent to her including making threats to kill or harm her, her pets and her children.
He also disconnected her doorbell camera and damaged her car’s tyres.
On one occasion, Chisholm held a pillow over the woman’s face and threatened to kill her.
In a victim personal statement, the victim said: “I have avoided texts from my loved ones, as I don’t like my phone anymore, I hate my phone going off, every time it’s a reminder of what I had to put up with.
“I spend a big portion of my day thinking about what is going through his mind, for example if he is thinking about me or how obsessed is with the thought of hurting me again.
“It consumes my thoughts and it destroys my energy and capacity to want to do anything productive or leave the house.”
The defendant, of Foxglove Drive in Hilperton, Trowbridge, was jailed for four years and two months. The court also imposed a indefinite restraining order prohibiting future contact.
Local Crime Investigator Ben Hillier said: “This was a deeply distressing case involving persistent stalking and a serious assault, which left the victim fearing for her safety. The offender’s behaviour was controlling, dangerous and wholly unacceptable.
“I welcome the court’s sentence, which reflects the seriousness of these offences and the significant harm caused.
“I would also like to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation.
“Wiltshire Police is committed to tackling stalking and violence against women and girls, and we will continue to take robust action against those who seek to cause harm.”
