Police are probing a hit-and-run which left a woman critically injured in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to Rodbourne Road following a road traffic collision close to the Penzance Drive bus gate at around 2.20am this morning (Tuesday).
A woman, whose age has not been confirmed by authorities, was stuck by a car – which failed to stop at the scene. Officers have since located and seized the vehicle.
The casualty was rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for urgent treatment. She remains in a life-threatening condition.
Rodbourne Road is closed in both directions between Kemble Drive and Park Lane. Both motorists and pedestrians are affected – and must find alternative routes.
Closures are likely to remain in place for the majority of the day and potentially into the evening.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are now appealing to anyone who may have been in the area between 2am and 2.30am this morning and may have witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward as this could assist with our investigation.
“A scene remains in place and drivers should expect delays in the area.
