UPDATE: Body found in Swindon park was young woman – police update
Police have launched an urgent probe after a body was found in a Swindon park.
A significant emergency services presence was first spotted at GWR Park in Faringdon Road at around 10.30am this morning (Sunday).
Several ambulances and around six police cars were in attendance initially, with officers evacuating and then cordoning off the entire green space.
It’s understood a body was found, and an investigation into the circumstances of the death is underway.
A blue blanket was put up on the fence to obscure the view into part of the park.
This afternoon, at around 1.30pm, two forensic investigators arrived at the scene alongside a detective.
All three put on white protective overalls before photographing the area and entering the park – where they’ll comb the scene for vital evidence relating to the death.
Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
