Police are telling motorists to make only ‘essential journeys’ after heavy rain in Wiltshire.
Officers are dealing with numerous water and flood related incidents across the county this afternoon (Thursday).
On the A4 at West Overton, there has been a road traffic collision in a flooded section – causing tailbacks in both directions.
On the A360 between Devizes and Salisbury, water is pouring off Salisbury Plain and creating hazardous driving conditions.
On the A342 Andover Road at Lydeway several vehicles are stuck in flood water.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be advised that, following the recent stormy weather, many of the roads around Devizes, Marlborough and Pewsey are severely flooded, with some of them impassable.
Please only make essential journeys for the next few hours, drive with great care and slow speed if you have to make a journey and do not drive through any floods as you are likely to get stuck.
“If you see a “Road Closed” sign, do not ignore it. If you do and your car gets damaged in a flood, your insurance may not cover the cost of repair. Thank you for your co-operation.”
