A man was found to be carrying a knife during a stop and search in Swindon this afternoon.
Police officers stopped the man in the Bay Tree Court area of Pinehurst at around 3.30pm.
During the search of his person, officers discovered a large knife on him. The male, thought to be in his 50s, was subsequently arrested and taken to Gablecross Police Station.
It comes after Wiltshire Police said it would be stepping up patrols in the Penhill and Pinehurst area following the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in a mass disorder on The Circle on Thursday.
