Police have provided more details on the stabbing in Swindon town centre.
Emergency services were called to Temple Street following a knife attack at around 1.45pm today (Friday).
The victim, aged in his 30s, sustained a serious injury to his face.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed at nearby GWR Park, before the charity’s critical care medics assisted local ambulance crews at the scene.
Once stable, he was flown to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
DS Sarah Munday from Swindon CID said: “We appreciate the concern that this incident has caused within the community, however please be reassured that the suspect and the victim are believed to be known to one another and this is thought to be an isolated incident.
“We are actively working to locate and arrest the suspect.
“We know there were quite a few people in the vicinity when this incident has taken place and there may have been witnesses to what happened.
