Police have fined a driver who deliberately covered their car’s number plates with mud.
Specialist roads policing officers were deployed to reports of a vehicle travelling in excess of the speed limit on the M4 through Wiltshire.
The car was located and stopped with mud covering part of both the front and rear number plates.
On being questioned at the roadside, the driver admitted that they had covered the plates deliberately to avoid detection – due to not having a valid MOT.
A force spokesperson said: “We found the car and the driver admitted to applying mud on the registration plates to hide the fact it had no MOT. Fixed penalties issued.”
