Police have arrested a man at Taser-point after a report of a sword being brandished.
Officers raced to Union Street, in Old Town, following a call about an incident involving a person with a knife at around 1am on Sunday morning (30 June).
A local resident claimed that a man walked out of his house with a sword and threatened a ‘young couple’ with it.
The suspect, a man aged in his 40s, was repeatedly told to exit his home as officers pointed Tasers at him – but he continued to argue.
Eventually, they walk towards him and enter his property to make the arrest.
The man taken to Gablecross custody, where he was held on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, affray and suspicion of class B drugs.
Wiltshire Police said that the suspect has since been released on bail – but won’t face any further action in relation to allegation of having a sword.
