Flying has been put on hold after an incident at Bournemouth Air Festival.

A plane has reportedly crashed into the sea near boats at the show at around 4pm this afternoon (4 September).

A pilot and wing-walker are believed to have been rescued from the water near Sandbanks Ferry following the concerning incident.

On Twitter, Tony Miles shared a photograph of the plane involved in the crash, stating it “landed in sea and sank very fast”.

BBC Radio Solent posted this update from the scene: “An aircraft suffered an incident during a display at Bournemouth Air Festival with flying suspended until further notice.

“We’re told some crew is being treated by emergency services.”

Bournemouth Air Festival organisers have released the following statement:

“There has been an incident involving one of the displays away from the display area.

”The crew are safe and sound and are being looked after by the emergency services.

”As a result flying has been suspended until further notice. We will update you early this evening.

”We ask you not to contact the emergency services unless you have information regarding this incident.”
