A pedestrian’s been seriously injured by a driver performing doughnuts at a Swindon car meet.
Police officers were met with hostility when they attended the unauthorised event on Hawksworth Industrial Estate at around 7.30pm yesterday (Saturday, 30 September).
Approximately 500 people were in attendance of the gathering alongside 100 vehicles.
As one driver performed doughnuts, they slammed into the crowd standing just metres away – with at least one of several injured pedestrians sustaining serious wounds.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance medics – travelling in a critical care car – were called to the scene alongside ambulance crews. Two fire engines were also tasked with assisting at the incident.
A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains custody for questioning. However, this arrest was not in connection with the crash.

“Officers attending were greeted with hostility with the tyres on one police vehicle being damaged and an unknown substance being sprayed onto officers”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
Adding: “Wiltshire Police is working with partner agencies in order to reduce future car meets.
“We will also be reviewing video footage of the meet and will be looking to deal with any offences or offenders that are identified.”
