‘No place in society’ for Wiltshire sex offender, detective says

There is ‘no place in society’ for a Wiltshire sex offender who was jailed for repeated crimes, a detective says.

Samantha Franklin pleaded guilty to five breaches of her Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) – which was imposed after she was caught with child abuse images.

In November, she admitted having a stash of 556 indecent photos of children and was handed a suspended prison sentence the following month.

Despite this, she continued offending by ignoring the SHPO’s terms. Franklin, of Cove House Gardens, Ashton Keynes, signed up for FabSwingers as “Pretty Eyes 901”.

The 34-year-old also deleted internet history on her mobile device, installed file cleaning software and failed to notify police she was using a device with internet access.

Furthermore, the defendant accessed Instagram and FabSwingers to create an account without the prior approval of a police officer.

She was jailed for 50 weeks at Swindon Magistrates Court on 14 January.

Now, Detective Constable Jason Walsh, who works on the Child Internet Exploitation Team at Wiltshire Police, has spoken out about her persistent offending.

He said: “I am really pleased that Franklin has been given a prison sentence – she has continued to offend since she was sentenced in December by breaching the terms of her sexual harm prevention order.

“She has shown a total disregard for the court system and seems to have totally underestimated the seriousness of her own offending and the SHPO she was issued with.

“I hope she spends her prison sentence reflecting on the crimes she has committed – there is no place in society for people who behave in this way.”
