A man’s died in a serious incident at a landfill site in Wiltshire overnight.
Emergency services were called to Crapper and Sons Landfill in Brinkworth Road, Royal Wootton Bassett, at around 2.20am on New Year’s Eve (31 December).
Wiltshire Police says two employees were involved in the industrial accident – the nature of which has not been confirmed.
One man, in his 60s from the Chippenham area, was pronounced dead at the scene. Whilst the second employee was involved, they were not injured.
“Next of kin have been informed”, a police spokesperson said. Adding: “Wiltshire Police, alongside the Health and Safety Executive, will continue enquiries into the cause of the incident.”
