A man was seriously injured after ‘getting stuck in a machine’ at a factory in Melksham.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Halifax Road, on Bowerhill Industrial Estate, at around 10am this morning (Wednesday).

Great Western Air Ambulance landed near the accident site as local ambulance crews and numerous fire appliances rushed to the workplace.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) confirmed that Melksham and Trowbridge crews attended.

Specialist firefighters – working on a heavy rescue unit – freed a casualty from what DWFRS described as a “mechanical entrapment”.

A man, aged in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for urgent care.

Wiltshire 999s understands his arm was crashed when it became trapped in a printer, causing significant injury — including exposed bone.

It’s understood the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched an investigation into the incident.
