A motorcyclist’s arm was reportedly ripped off after colliding with a lorry on the A361.

It’s believed the biker first connected with an oncoming lorry which severed his arm in the serious crash between Swindon and Highworth at 12.20pm yesterday.

The man, in his 60s from Swindon, also suffered a serious leg injury alongside his significant life-changing arm injury. He was stabilised at the scene before being taken to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains.

The motorcycle he was travelling on, a Kawasaki in blue, came to a stop when it struck a second motorcycle – a white Honda – and a car further down the road. The rider of the Honda, a Highworth man in his 20s, suffered a broken wrist.

The road, between Highworth and Swindon Supermarine Football Club, remained closed until 10pm for forensic collision investigation work.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area prior to the collision, especially those with dashcam footage, to contact them on 101 quoting log 141 of yesterday (17 December 2020).
