A motorbike ‘sliced a deer in half’ in a crash on a Wiltshire route tonight (Monday).
Wiltshire Air Ambulance and other emergency services were tasked to the A420 at North Wraxall, west of Chippenham, at approximately 9.15pm.
A motorbike was involved in a collision with a deer, causing the male rider to lose control before sliding down the road.
He was treated by critical care paramedics and police officers until the arrival of an ambulance around 45 minutes after the incident occurred.
Despite the high-speed impact, the rider didn’t sustain any life-changing or life-threatening injuries. As a result, forensic collision investigation work won’t need to be carried out.
The deer was killed instantly in the collision, ending up in two parts as internal organs were strewn across the major A-road. Police officers were forced to clean up the bloody mess using a spade.
The A420 has been closed in both directions but is expected to reopen before midnight – once the vehicle has been recovered and the oil spill is cleaned up.
