A man’s body was pulled from the River Avon last night following a major search operation yesterday.
Emergency services responded to reports that a person had entered the river near Challeymwad Bridge on the A350 in Melksham at around 2pm on Thursday.
At 10.30pm, nearly eight hours after the initial emergenecy call, a body was found.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Following reports yesterday (13/02) of a man who was believed to have entered the River Avon at Challymead Bridge on the A350 at Melksham, the body of a man was found close to the same bridge at around 10.30pm yesterday.
“Our enquiries are at a very early stage but there is nothing to suggest there are any suspicious circumstances.”
