A man who repeatedly stalked a woman in Swindon has pleaded guilty – after his actions left her in fear for her safety.
Steffon Wood, 37, of Long Ford Close in Oxford, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 23 January.
He admitted stalking involving a fear of violence against a woman aged in her 30s.
Wood was remanded into custody and is due to be sentenced on 12 February.
The court heard that between 15 and 19 January, Wood called the victim more than two hundred times.
He also sent her abusive messages and visited her home on repeated occasions.
These actions breached both his bail conditions and a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
Following public appeals to locate him, Wood was arrested and later charged with the offences.
The charge followed joint work by Swindon’s Volume Crime Team and Swindon Response officers.
Trainee Detective Constable Murat said: “Wood showed absolutely no remorse for his actions despite multiple breaches of his bail conditions.
“He repeatedly called and sent abusive messages to the victim, as well as banging on her windows and door, leaving her in fear for her safety.
“I’m pleased the court has remanded him into custody ahead of his sentencing.
“Wood is a clear danger to the victim and this reflects the seriousness with which allegations of stalking are treated and ensures appropriate safeguarding measures are in place for victims.”
