A man has suffered a major bleed after reportedly being stabbed with a broken bottle during a disorder in Warminster.
Emergency services were called to Furlong, off East Street, at around 5.45pm on Thursday evening (23 July) following reports of a man with serious injuries.
A man, aged in his 30s and from Shaftesbury in Dorset, was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries to his arm.
Many locals told Wiltshire 999s that the victim sustained an arterial bleed after being stabbed with a broken bottle – but this has not been confirmed by authorities.
South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that the casualty was taken to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.
A man, aged in his 30s and from Warminster, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody for questioning.
Forensic work was carried out in Furlong and a property in the street following the attack.
Until later evening, a crime scene investigator took photos of the area and various items – including what appeared to be a t-shirt and a blood-stained towel.
