A man rode a pedal go-kart to a Swindon court before smashing 31 windows.

The suspect was reportedly caught on CCTV dancing after using a hammer to cause significant amounts of damage Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

The incident took place between 6pm on 4 September and and 7am on 5 September.

Police officers arrested a man, who is said to have turned up on a pedal go-kart, but has was later sectioned and taken to a mental health facility.

As of today (Thursday), the building remains boarded up. Court hearings, even on the day of the incident, have gone ahead as planned.

It’s not yet known when the glass will be replaced.

Previously, Chief inspector Al Lumley said: “A number of windows in the court building have been damaged which would have undoubtedly created quite a bit of noise.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area near the Magistrates’ Court overnight.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage from the area near the court building in Princes Street between 6pm yesterday (04/09) and 7am today.

“If you can help, please call us on 101 quoting log 57 of today (05/09).”
