A man’s been given a telling off by Wiltshire Police after a teenage girl was left ‘scared’ following an incident in Chippenham.
The 17-year-old girl was walking alone near the Esso service station in Rowden Hill when she passed a man who began to ask her questions.
He reportedly asked her whether she was alone, whether she had a dog and whether she wanted to walk his dog with him.
Worried about his intentions, the girl’s mother later called the police to report it.
Footage of the man’s car was posted on Facebook following the encounter, sparking serious concern among local residents who shared the post hundreds of times.
As a result of the post, the man in question stepped forward, contacting the police himself.
“The girl was not harmed in any way but was left shaken by the incident and believed it could have been suspicious”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
Continuing: “Due to the fact that video footage of the incident was shared on social media, we then received a call from the man involved and officers spoke to him.
“We concluded that no offences had been committed but words of advice were given to the man involved.”
