A man has died and a woman has been seriously hurt in a head-on crash in Trowbridge.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “A man has sadly died following an incident in Frome Road, Trowbridge, this morning (08/04).
“At around 9.10am, we responded to a report of a collision between a Volkswagen Polo and a Peugeot 208.
“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the driver of the Polo, a man in his 80s, was declared deceased at the scene. It is thought the man suffered a medical episode prior to the collision taking place, which led to the collision.
“His next of kin are aware and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
“A passenger in the Polo, a woman in her 70s, suffered potentially serious injuries in the collision. She has been taken to hospital for treatment.
“The driver of the Peugeot suffered reportedly minor injuries. No arrests have been made.
“The road was closed to allow for enquiries and recovery of the vehicles to take place and has now reopened.”
