A naked man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in a Melksham cul-de-sac.
Emergency services responded to the serious incident in Cotswold Close, off Westbury View, at around 5.30pm this afternoon (Saturday).
Police cordoned off the residential road as medics, including a team from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, provided a woman treatment.
A man, who was naked and only covered by a thermal blanket, was arrested and placed into the back of an unmarked police car on nearby Blackmore Road.
A short time later he was transferred to a cell van and taken to custody. For what offence he was arrest is yet to be confirmed by authorities.
The casualty was blue-lighted to hospital for further treatment, but it’s understood her injuries aren’t believed to be severe.
Four detectives from Melksham CID attended the scene. Forensic work is expected to be carried out into the evening.
A crime scene in place following the initial response was lifted at around 6.30pm.
At the height of the incident, there were approximately 15 police officers present – plus an ambulance crew, operational commander and air ambulance medics.
UPDATE: A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police: “A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following a disorder in Cotswold Close, Melksham at about 5.30pm yesterday (14/03).
“A woman has been treated for superficial stab injuries, and another woman was treated for a wrist injury.
“The suspect remains in police custody.”
