A woman has been taken to hospital after being injured with a knife in Trowbridge.
Emergency services rushed to an address in Fleece Cottages, off Broadcloth Lane, following reports of an assault this morning (2 February).
On arrival, they found a woman has suffered an injury to her side, which officers believed was caused by a blade of some form – possibly a knife.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene, but no one was airlifted to hospital.
The casualty, aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital by land ambulance and her injuries were later assessed as minor and she was discharged.
Police are continuing to investigate the attack, with detectives and forensics at the address for most of today.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Shortly after 9am this morning we were called to an address off Broadcloth Lane, Trowbridge, following a report that a woman had been assaulted.
“The victim, a woman in her 20s, had suffered a small wound to her side, which we believe may have been caused by a blade of some kind. She was taken to hospital, but later discharged with minor injuries.
“At this stage we are not clear where the assault took place but enquiries are ongoing.
“A 19-year-old man, who is known to the woman, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.
“Anyone with information should call 101, quoting log 67 of today.”
