A man has been arrested for rape after an incident in Swindon town centre.
The 19-year-old suspect is in custody for questioning following an alleged sex attack in the early hours of Saturday morning (7 September).
A crime scene was put in place in Queen Street, which links Fleet Street with Carr Street. An alleyway nearby was also cordoned off.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Officers investigating an alleged sexual assault have arrested a 19-year-old man from the Swindon area on suspicion of rape.
“He is currently in police custody.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in Swindon Town Centre in the early hours of Saturday (08/09) who may have seen anything suspicious.
