Wiltshire Police is continuing its investigation into an incident in Chippenham that saw a man suffer a ‘knife wound’ to his neck.

The casualty, a man in his 30s, was rushed to hospital after turning up at the One Stop store in Sheldon Road at 6.30pm yesterday evening (13 February).

Police immediately carried out a search of the area and cordoned off an area 200 metres from the shop, where blood was visible on the ground and railings around Marlborough Court care home.

The force said he suffered a “throat injury”, and at the scene, last night detectives described the wound as “significant”.

There was a significant police presence – including CID officers and a police dog until – in Sheldon Road as they scoured the area for a possible suspect or weapon.

A witness, who does not wish to be named, told Wiltshire 999s that they believe the man suffered a knife wound – but this has not been confirmed by police.

Whilst an investigation is ongoing, the potential victim has not made a complaint regarding an assault and no arrests have been made.

In a full update, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “At about 6.30pm yesterday (14/02) we responded to reports of a man in Sheldon Road Chippenham with a throat injury.

“The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

“No assault has been reported in relation to this incident and no arrests made. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
