A major incident was declared after illegal immigrants were found in a lorry.
Emergency services were called to the Moto services on the M4 westbound in Reading shortly before 5pm yesterday (Wednesday, 8 November).
In total, 999 crews found nine people – seven adults and two children.
The services were closed by police and a major incident was declared due to the amount of resources required to deal with the incident.
In a statement, Thames Valley Police said: ““Seven adults were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences and passed over to immigration officials.
“Two of them required hospital treatment but have been discharged. Two children have been safeguarded.
“The lorry park at the service station was closed during the incident but has since reopened.
“Our thanks go to all those involved for bringing the incident to a safe resolution, and to those affected by the closure for their cooperation.”
