A group of machete-wielding teenagers sparked a police manhunt this afternoon.
Police swarmed the Walcot area following a report of three young males on mopeds armed with large knives confronting another male at around 4pm.
The incident is understood to have taken place in Billborough Drive, near New College, with armed officers deployed to the scene alongside the police helicopter.
A Wiltshire 999s reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “Three lads on mopeds pulled out knives and ran after another man, but after some shouting jumped back on their mopeds and rode off.
“No one was hurt as far as I’m aware. I believe it was gang-related.”
Another reported seeing a teenage male in handcuffs held by the police in Queens Drive. There was also a moped lying on on the ground next to what appeared to be an arrest.
