A lorry driver suffered a cardiac arrest and crashed in a Melksham street.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in Blenheim Park, Bowerhill, at around 5.30pm on Wednesday afternoon (25 March).
The incident involved a lorry and a car, with the driver of the lorry collapsing into cardiac arrest. Members of the public provided first aid – including CPR – ahead of paramedics.
Critical care medics from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance and local ambulance crews treated the man before rushing him to Bristol Royal Infirmary for further care.
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust confirmed that one double-crewed ambulance, an operations officer, a critical care car, and a first responder attended.
Wiltshire Police also responded to the incident, sending multiple units to assist medics on scene and close the road to motorists and onlookers.
The force confirmed that “believed he suffered a medical episode”.
According to a spokesperson from the man’s firm, Ross Hillman Ltd, he remains in hospital. Posting on social media, they wanted to “thank everyone who helped him”.
