Locals cheered when police arrested a man they reported as a suspected drink driver tonight.
Officers raced to a 999 call from a resident who had witnessed a man park his car and walking into the woods – their suspicions were raised when he appeared intoxicated.
A dog unit was called to the incident in Pinehurst Road at around 9pm, and the dog was unleashed. He tracked to the suspected drink driver who was immediately arrested.
A police van arrived, the male – thought to be in his 30s – was searched and then became aggressive while he was being loaded into the cage. Officers had to use force as he kicked out at them.
Then the cage door closed, cheers and a round of applause were heard. Locals clapped officers and thanked them for their speedy response and fast arrest.
The man’s been taken to Gablecross custody.
