The coroner has opened an inquest into the death of a man in Chippenham.
Following a phone call, police attended the home address of builder Kevin Mayo on 9 August this year – where he was pronounced deceased.
The 60-year-old was found lying on his patio alongside his completely severed right hand.
Wiltshire and Swindon Coroners Court heard that Mr Mayo’s cause of death was exsanguination – severe loss of blood as a a result of the amputated hand.
He was identified by his partner. Wiltshire Police ruled his death as non-suspicious.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
