A horse and its rider have been injured in a hit-and-run crash near Trowbridge.
Wiltshire Police say they are investigating a report that a vehicle struck the animal in Wesley Lane, just off Brokerswood Road, on 27 December.
The force said the incident happened at around 2.45pm, but a post on social media suggests it happened at approximately 1.50pm.
The rider of the horse, a woman aged in her 20s, sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. Her wounds are not thought to be significant. The horse sustained minor leg injuries.
Wiltshire Police said it’s believed the vehicle involved was a black VW Polo, and the driver failed to stop at the scene.
A spokesperson said that the car “will have been damaged due to colliding with the horse”. There’s suggestion the vehicle had a loud exhaust and a damaged offside.
