A suspected drug dealer managed to escape police after being handcuffed.
Officers stopped a vehicle in Hook Street, near Whitehill Way, at around 8.45pm yesterday evening (Friday, 7 June).
The driver, a man aged in his 30s, was arrested. However, moments later he managed to flee the scene on foot while wearing handcuffs.
A significant number of police officers were tasked, searching vicinity – including Windmill Hill Business Park – for the escaped detainee.
A dog unit was spotted in the area, and it’s believed a police drone was flown.
He was not located in the area, but was later arrested at an address in Marlowe Avenue, in Walcot.
The suspect is being held in custody on suspicion possession with intent to supply class B drugs, escaping from lawful custody and assaulting a police officer.
