Great Western Way closed both ways after collision involving car and motorbike

A main road through Swindon is closed both ways due to a crash involving a motorcyclist.

A motorbike and car are understood to have collided on Great Western Way between Transfer Bridges and Cocklebury Roundabout at around 6.30pm today (6 October).

A witness told Wiltshire 999s a motorcyclist appeared to be lying in the road.

Several police officers are in attendance alongside the fire service and an ambulance.

Police were seen to be turning vehicles around, driving the wrong way along Great Western Way as emergency services deal with the incident.

It’s not clear if anyone’s been seriously injured.

UPDATE 7.30PM

The road has reopened in both directions.
