Four boys were arrested after police were called to a report of an attempted robbery in North Swindon yesterday evening.

Local officers, supported by armed officers and a dog unit, raced to the incident near Redhouse Park at around 5.30pm, where a teenage boy was reportedly threatened at knife-point.

Near the scene, in Torun Way, four boys were stopped and searched by officers, discovering a knife and a machete – both were seized.

As a result, a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were also arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

The 13-year-old boy remains at Gablecross custody for questioning, while the other three suspects have been released under investigation.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact police on 101 and quote crime reference 54200122519. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
