Forensics have combed a possible unregistered grave discovered near Coate Water.
Police were called to the scene off Broome Manor Lane on Friday afternoon (9 August).
A crime scene was put in place, fearing the grave contained human remains.
However, forensics combed the site and examined the bones, concluding that they were that of what is believed to be a dog.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that a scene was in place “to allow for enquiries”, but it has since been lifted and police officers have left.
The force has not said what species of animal was buried in the grave.
