Four people were found unconscious at a house in south Wiltshire this morning.
The incident in Downton sparked a major alert at just before 9.50am, bringing a huge emergency service presence to the village – including an air ambulance and hazmat paramedics.
Six fire crews from Salisbury, Fordingbridge, Wilton, Ringwood and Amesbury attended the scene wearing breathing apparatus to assist paramedics in bringing the casualties outside.
Police initially said that five people were found at the house, but it was later confirmed as four.
In a statement read to media at the scene of the incident, Sargent Keith Jackson of Wiltshire Police said: “Police were called to the address this morning at about 9.50am to reports of four persons inside not in the best of health, not feeling particularly well, and a potential smell of gas coming from the address as well.”
“We strongly believe it is drug-related. We are not looking for anyone else and there is no threat to the wider public.”
Two of the casualties were taken to hospital, while the other two didn’t need hospital treatment. The exact nature of the drugs-related incident is not yet known, but an update is expected shortly.
