Firefighters have tackled a raging narrowboat blaze on the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Moulton Drive in Bradford on Avon at around 7am today (Sunday).
Local residents reportedly heard an explosion as the flames took hold – waking some of them.
The owner of the boat, a man, was reportedly injured during the incident but isn’t believed to have suffered any significant injuries.
Firefighters warned people who live nearby to close their windows and doors due to hazardous smoke drifting from the blaze.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We area dealing with a canal boat fire in the Baileys Farm area.
“We are requesting the public to not to come and look for their own safety due to the hazardous smoke that’s being created.
“Local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed.”
