A casualty had to be freed from a car after it rolled down a hill in Swindon’s Old Town.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision in Croft Road at around 5.30am this morning.
The car, possibly a silver Volkswagen Polo, rolled in the 30mph zone before coming to rest near a bus stop at the bottom of the hill. A parked car was also struck, which then hit a house.
Firefighters from Swindon and Stratton were sent to the scene, extricating at least one casualty using hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called at 4.50am this morning to reports that a vehicle had collided with a stationary car on Croft Road, Swindon, causing that vehicle to crash into a house.
“The male driver of the moving vehicle has been taken to Great Western Hospital.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call s on 101 and quote log number 56 of today.”
The road was closed in both directions by police until around 8am.
