The emergency services were called to a serious incident in a block of flats last night, involving a ‘public safety concern’ according to police.
Ten police vehicles, three fire crews and two ambulances attended the incident on Wellington Street in Swindon town centre at around 10pm on Sunday.
A resident told the Wiltshire Post that an overpowering chemical smell could be smelt across a number of floors – sparking an emergency response.
Police officers, and police tape, remains at the scene this morning, alongside Swindon Borough Council’s Local Authority Incident Officer.
We’ve approached Wiltshire Police and the fire service for comment.
