Police officers were seen ‘having a scuffle with suspects’ in Lawn Woods yesterday afternoon, after a member of the public reported suspicious activity in the area.

Five units responded to the 999 call at just before 5pm, racing through the Lawn estate and parking on Highclere Road before jumping from their cars and sprinting into the woodland park.

An eyewitness told Wiltshire 999s at the scene, that he saw officers on the floor with one of the men, who looked to be resisting arrest. He also witnessed one of the men chuck hundreds of pounds in notes, and possibly drugs, into the stinging nettles nearby.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, possession of class B drugs and possession of a knife. He was also in breach of bail conditions and was remanded in custody to appear in court today, Friday 4 May.

A second man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possession of a knife and was released under investigation.
