A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car in this morning (Friday, 28 October).
Emergency services were called to Ermin Street at approximately 7.45am, following a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a car which failed to stop at the scene.
The pedestrian – a man in his 60s – sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital.
A road closure was put in place while the incident was dealt with until about 9.15am, when it reopened.
Officers carried out enquiries to locate the vehicle and driver involved, arresting a man in his 60s.
He is currently being held in custody at Gablecross on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.
