UPDATE: Driver charged after lorry overturns on A350 in Chippenham
A driver has been arrested after flipping a lorry on a roundabout in Chippenham.
Emergency services raced to the A350, outside the BP service station in West Cepen Way, following reports of the collision at around 2am today (Friday).
A HGV had overturned, spilling its load – thought to be wood chips – on the roundabout. Concerned the driver was trapped inside, many 999 crews were sent.

The driver, a man aged in his 40s, was freed from the vehicle and checked over by paramedics. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “A man is currently in custody after a lorry overturned on the A350 early this morning.
“Emergency services were called to the road near to Morrisons shortly before 2am after a lorry overturned. The driver was reported to be trapped.”

They continued: “Road closures were put in place along the A350 between Morrisons and the petrol station whilst the incident was dealt with and these remain in place due to the complex recovery process.
“A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving and is currently in custody in Melksham for questioning. Enquiries continue.
“The road is likely to remain closed for the duration of the morning.
“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log 21 of today.”
